NCA Bond 2025

One Building. One Mission. One Future.

Our District is facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity—to resolve the District’s most pressing facility needs and consolidate operations from two buildings to one to create a state-of-the-art learning environment for NCA students today, and for our Future Jets.

Utilizing the $15.4M of Section 12d Internal Consolidation Grant funding that district administration and the board of education applied for and received, NCA is looking to the future, and asking the community to support an investment to secure the long-term stability of our district, allowing us to focus our resources on instructional excellence and student support, rather than maintaining multiple aging buildings

Through community, staff, and student engagement, North Central Area Schools aims to develop a Facility Plan that provides direction on the projects and timeline of needs identified within the district, as well as creating a unified learning environment that supports collaboration and innovation.

As we embark on this exciting journey, we are committed to involving all stakeholders every step of the way. There will be ample opportunities for parents, staff, students, and community members to share their voices, offer feedback, and help shape the future of our district. Your insights are invaluable as we plan for a unified campus that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of everyone we serve.

Section 12D Internal Consolidation Grant

NCA was recently awarded the Section 12d Internal Consolidation Grant from the Michigan Department of Education. Out of more than 150 applications statewide, only three districts were selected—and our success is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team.

This $15.4 million grant represents a transformative opportunity for our students, families, staff, and the broader community. By consolidating into a single, state-of-the-art building, we will enhance our infrastructure—creating modern classrooms, upgrading our security systems, and integrating cutting-edge technology. Significant renovations to our existing facilities will ensure that our learning environments are both safe and inspiring for years to come. Most importantly, this consolidation will secure the long-term stability of our district, allowing us to focus our resources on instructional excellence and student support, rather than maintaining multiple aging buildings.

Gathering Community & Staff Feedback

We are committed to continued conversations with you as we look ahead to the future needs of our students and community. The district and the school board will gather information from district staff regarding the facilities study to further identify areas of focus for our staff.

To engage the community, the district plans to hold Community Listening Sessions in August in order to gather feedback on how to address the identified district needs as we work toward the November 2025 bond election. The purpose of these Listening Sessions is to inform the community of the current state of our buildings and gain valuable community input prior to the bond vote.

Next Steps – Learn More!

The school board has scheduled 3 community information meetings in the weeks ahead to gather more input and answer questions that residents have. All district residents are welcome to attend; refreshments will be served and no RSVP is required. Content will be the same for both sessions, so please join us on the date/time that works best in your schedule. If neither of these dates work in your schedule, the information will be posted to our website; you are also encouraged to reach out to Dr. Depuydt with any questions.
